Safety Start & Support & Promises

You have 7 days to feel whether MyGRIEF is the right container. After that, I hold the work seriously — not as a product you bought, but as a therapeutic process we have begun.

The First 7 Days Safety Promise

You have the first 7 days to enter your private MyGRIEF workspace, watch my welcome and orientation, complete the Opening Reflection, and begin the process.

If, within those first 7 days, you feel that MyGRIEF is not the right container for you, send me a message.

No performance.
No emotional argument.
No need to justify your grief.

Just tell me within the first 7 days, and I will refund you.

After those 7 days, the guarantee closes, because by then the therapeutic process has begun. I have opened the space, I am holding the frame, and we are no longer dealing with a product you bought, but with a therapeutic process you have entered.

The Human Holding Promise

MyGRIEF is not an app, not AI support, not a course library, and not a journal that leaves you alone with what it opens.

I personally read and follow your process.

Where appropriate, I may respond with a comment, a question, a reflection, an audio message, or a short video response.

That does not mean unlimited

therapy-on-demand.

It means that a real human therapist (me) is present in the background, holding the frame and noticing when something needs attention.

The Next Step Promise

At the end of the 40-day process, the door does not simply slam shut.

You complete a closing reflection and evaluation, and if it becomes clear that more support is needed, we look at the next step carefully.

Possible next steps may include:

  • a block of 1 private 75-minute closing session with me;

  • a block of 3 private 75-minute integration sessions with me;

  • an application for ongoing 1-to-1 Real Therapy;

  • a direct continuation of MyGRIEF with personal adjustment and 25% reduction, if we both agree that this genuinely serves the process;

  • or another form of care if that is the better fit, let's talk.

These next steps are not automatic.

They are selected carefully, because MyGRIEF is not built to keep you inside a loop.

It is built to help your grief find a place, and then help you move forward with more steadiness, dignity, and direction.

Questions You May Not Ask Out Loud

These are the questions people often carry quietly while deciding. Let’s put them on the table, because guessing is not a very useful nervous-system strategy.

Is MyGRIEF only for death-related grief?

No.

Death is one form of grief, but it is not the only one.

MyGRIEF is also for the grief around what ended, what never happened, what should have been there and was not, the relationship you did not get, the future that disappeared, the family that was not available, the body that changed, or the part of yourself that had to adapt too much for too long.

Sometimes grief is obvious. Sometimes it hides inside functioning, private coping, exhaustion, control, work, silence, the body, or the question: “Why does this still come back?”

If something in you recognises that, even quietly, then this may be closer to grief than you have been allowed to call it.

Is MyGRIEF a trauma programme?

No. Not as such.

Grief and trauma can touch each other. They often sit very close together at the same very inconvenient table. But they are not the same thing.

MyGRIEF is not acute trauma treatment, crisis intervention, or emergency mental health support.

It is for people who recognise that grief keeps returning through ordinary life, functioning, relationships, the body, private coping, silence, or the strange moments where something old suddenly becomes present again.

If what is most active for you right now is acute trauma, severe dysregulation, crisis, or a need for immediate stabilisation, this may not be the right container at this moment.

That does not make your experience wrong. It means the frame needs to fit.

What if I am not sure whether this is grief, trauma, or something from my past?

That is a real question.

Grief does not always arrive wearing a neat little label that says “grief”, which would be convenient, but apparently grief did not receive the memo.

Sometimes it comes through the body. Sometimes through old memories. Sometimes through relationships. Sometimes through the future you did not get, the childhood that was not safe enough, the home you had to leave, or the version of yourself that had to adapt too much.

MyGRIEF is for grief. But grief can live close to trauma, regret, absence, abandonment, migration, estrangement, divorce, diagnosis, and the question: “What did I lose without ever properly naming it?”

If the idea of “making space for what keeps returning” feels more accurate than any perfect label, that is worth noticing.

If the main thing you need is trauma treatment, crisis support, or immediate stabilisation, then this is not the right frame right now.

Do I have to share my story publicly?

No.

And I want to be very clear about this, because this is often the exact point where the nervous system quietly starts looking for the exit.

You do not have to share your story publicly. You do not have to explain your grief to a group. You do not have to perform vulnerability, make your pain understandable to strangers, or turn your life into a neat little story with a lesson at the end.

Honestly, I would not come to that either.

MyGRIEF is built as a private process.

Is this group therapy?

No.

MyGRIEF is not group therapy.

There may be shared teaching, structure, guidance or communication around the process, but you are not being placed in a group where you are expected to tell your story or process your grief publicly.

The centre of MyGRIEF is your private MyGRIEF Workspace and the 40-day structure inside it.

You can be private and still be in a real process. That is one of the reasons MyGRIEF exists.

What is the MyGRIEF Workspace?

Your MyGRIEF Workspace is the private online place where the 40-day process lives.

It is where you will find the orientation, the structure, the reflections, the grounding material, the communication around the process, and the next steps.

It is not a content library that gets thrown at you so you can impress someone by rushing through it.

Please do not do that.

The Workspace gives your grief a private, structured place where it can be met, reflected on, grounded and held without needing to turn it into a public performance.

What happens after I join?

After your payment is completed, you will receive access to your private MyGRIEF Workspace through Quenza.

Quenza is the secure platform I use to hold the MyGRIEF process.

You will receive an Account Invitation by email from: hello@real-therapy.online

You will create your password, enter the Workspace, and start with the welcome videos, the Opening Reflection, and the orientation material.

Nothing about this needs to be guessed. I spell this out because I do not want you sitting there with grief, a password field, and a suspicious nervous system wondering whether everyone else magically understands technical systems.

You do not need to rush. The first step is simply to enter the Workspace and begin in order.

What if I feel overwhelmed?

Then you slow down.

MyGRIEF is not built to force you open. It is not about digging everything up at once, flooding your nervous system, or turning grief into an emotional endurance sport.

The process includes grounding, pacing and reflection.

If something feels too much, you pause, return to the grounding material, and move more slowly.

If you are in crisis or need immediate mental health support, MyGRIEF is not the right place for that moment. You should contact appropriate local crisis or clinical support.

Is MyGRIEF therapy?

MyGRIEF is a therapist-guided grief process, created and held by me, Gijs VAN BREUGEL.

It is not a replacement for individual therapy, crisis care, medical care, psychiatric treatment or emergency support.

It is a structured 40-day process for people who recognise that grief is still moving through their life and want a private, human, clinically grounded place to bring it.

So no, it is not “just a course”.

But it is also not unlimited personal therapy.

The frame matters. Especially here.

Will Gijs personally be involved?

Yes.

MyGRIEF is not an abandoned content library.

I will be looking at what happens inside the process.

Not in an invasive way.

Not as unlimited therapy.

Not as crisis support.

But as the therapist-guided presence MyGRIEF is built around: structured, bounded, private and human.

What if I am already in therapy or another therapeutic process?

You may still be able to do MyGRIEF, but only if it supports the process you are already in rather than overloading it.

I do not believe in throwing more inner work at people just because something is interesting.

If you are already in active trauma treatment, crisis support, or an intensive personal process, MyGRIEF may not be the right next step right now.

Sometimes the most respectful answer is: one battle at a time.

That is not failure. That is knowing what your system can actually carry.

What if I am interested, but unsure?

Then pause for a moment.

Not forever. Just long enough to notice what kind of unsure this is.

Is it practical? Financial? Emotional? Is it timing? Is it the fear of opening something? Is it your nervous system doing the very human thing of hiding behind “I’ll think about it”?

You are allowed to be unsure.

But do not let uncertainty become the polite little door through which this disappears again.

If the masterclass or this page touched something real, do not put it back in the private drawer without at least looking clearly at the next step.
